Yusen Logistics wins European distribution contract from Mitutoyo

Yusen Logistics has secured a European distribution contract from Japan-based professional measuring equipment and precision instruments manufacturer Mitutoyo.

Established in 1934, Mitutoyo’s product portfolio ranges from micrometres, sliding callipers and dial gauges to hardness testers, vision measuring systems and 3D co-ordinates measuring machines.

Under the deal, Yusen will offer distribution services in Europe for Mitutoyo’s complete product range.

Yusen will offer order handling, pick-pack, loading and onward dispatch services Mitutoyo. The new contract will add up to 10 new jobs at the Yusen Logistics Rotterdam facility.

Mitutoyo’s goods will be stored at Yusen Logistics’ Rotterdam (NL) warehouse, which will be reached by the way of inbound airfreight and ocean freight through the port of Rotterdam and Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

Later, the goods will be supplied to the dealers and distributors of Mitutoyo, as well as end-users across the Europe.

Yusen has allocated around 6,500m² of storage space in the Rotterdam warehouse to accommodate Mitutoyo product range, which includes over 12,000 SKUs.

Yusen Logistics Benelux managing director Piet Boogaard said: “We are delighted that Mitutoyo has decided that Yusen Logistics will be their logistics partner and will jointly work on further improving the supply chain.”

Yusen offers services, including international freight forwarding (air or ocean), contract logistics (warehousing) and transportation (trucking).

The company operates around 500 distribution centers in 43 countries and regions.
