Panalpina wins contract to manage transportation for gas project in Iraq

Published 10 August 2017

Forwarding and logistics services provider Panalpina has secured a five year contract to handle transportation for a gas project in Iraq.

Under the contract, Panalpina will also offer customs clearance, light warehousing, full order management and in-house staffing to the client.

The deal also includes high air and less than container load (LCL) ocean freight volumes.

The ad hoc air and ocean chartering for gas project will also be managed by the logistics provider.

Since 2010, Panalpina has served the unspecified oil and gas company, and also provided its services across Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Morocco.

Panalpina will develop the value offering to the project in Iraq through an automated order management system, which was designed in collaboration with the oil and gas firm in the US in 2015.

The logistics firm employs local workforce instead of an expat workforce for the project. Panalpina also focuses on health, quality, safety, environment, ethics and compliance

The Panalpina Group, a supply chain solutions provider, specializes in air freight, ocean freight, logistics, supply chain optimization and end to end solutions.

Headquartered in Switzerland, the logistics firm employs over 10000 employees and has operations in over 500 locations.

To provide transport solutions for energy projects, Panalpina has formed Panalpina Energy Solutions through the merger of its Panprojects and Oil & Gas activities in September 2014.
