Kuehne + Nagel secures logistics contract from French drugmaker Sanofi

Swiss firm Kuehne + Nagel has secured a logistics contract from French pharmaceutical firm Sanofi.

As part of the deal, Kuehne + Nagel will manage warehouse operations of Sanofi in Belgium, through its facility in Geel.

The newly expanded facility features an advanced pharma area, which will be used for the raw materials storage of Sanofi and manage the GDP services.

Kuehne + Nagel’s warehouse includes temperature controlled zones between 15°c and 25°c, It offers cold storage space with temperatures between 2°C and 8°C, as well as freeze storage space with temperatures between -25°C and  -15°C.

In addition, the Geel facility features special fire protection storage zone, which enables to securely store flammable raw materials.

According to the company, Geel facility is part of the global KN PharmaChain network, which is a multi-modal logistics solution for temperature-controlled door-to-door transportation.

Sanofi supply chain director Chris Majoor said: “The implementation of the new external warehouse at Kuehne+Nagel provides a sustainable and scalable warehousing solution.”

Kuehne + Nagel BeLux managing director Kevin Nash said: “We are delighted to start into this cooperation with Sanofi, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.

“This new contract highlights our commitment to the pharma and healthcare industry and is a validation of our decision to further extend the Geel warehouse.”

With around 1,300 offices in more than 100 countries, Kuehne + Nagel offers sea freight and airfreight forwarding, as well as contract logistics services.
